Janice Malvesti-Cole and Tom Cole will try to do a raffle for each week that the American Legion in Centralia, WA is closed. Tom's Grandfather has a long history with the American Legion. All money raised is donated directly to the legion; we do not deduct any costs on our end. Thank you to those that have been buying virtual raffle tickets and helping us raise $1810.00 in the last 2 weeks.
This raffle is for a bottle of Melka 2016 CJ Cabernet Sauvignon wine and some chocolates (retails for over $100.00) The winner will be drawn live via Facebook on Sunday, May 17, 2020 @ noon.
We are doing this weeks raffle a little different:
$1.00 per entry
$10.00 gets you 12 entries
$20.00 gets you 25 entries
Tickets can be purchased via cash from myself or Tom.
Venmo @ Janice-Cole-13
I can also accept payment via ApplePay or Zelle (text me or send me a fb message)
When you purchase a “virtual” ticket, we log your name on a spreadsheet for each entry you purchase. Then we cut out each entry and throw them in a hopper, and someone form the legion pulls the winner from the hopper. This is the easiest way to keep track of entries, and the amount raised for each raffle .
Mother’s Day
Do everything with a good heart and expect nothing in return, and you will never be disappointed. This was something my mother, Roberta, lived by and instilled in me since I was little. Mother’s Day has been a hard holiday for me the last two years, as my mother passed away on May 8, 2018, five days before Mother’s Day, after a 27 month battle with Cholangiocarcinoma (bile duct cancer).
My mother was a phenomenal cook and showed her love and appreciation by feeding you. She worked for the Muckleshoot Casino as Administrative Assistant for over 20 years, and many of her coworkers would tell me how she was always bringing in treats for them or how they miss her smile and laughter. Recently, I needed to contact the tribe and the employee on the phone asked me if Roberta was my mother and after I said yes, she told me how much she missed her and how nice she was to her. I was so happy to hear someone talking about the positive impact my mother had on them, even after almost two years.
Like my mother, I show my love and appreciation by cooking and doing small things for people. Kindness leads to happiness, and I have spent the last two years trying to do as many kind things for others. This weekend I will spend time delivering flower baskets to friends, and raising money for the American Legion in Centralia.
I hope all of you have a beautiful Mother’s Day. We may not be able to be with our mothers and or loved ones, but we can honor them by spreading kindness.
